Problematic substance use treatment for First Nations and Inuit

First Nations communities with problematic substance use challenges have access to services funded by the Government of Canada.

For information on residential treatment programs, contact a treatment centre near you. You can also contact your local regional office at the number provided below.

For information on community-based prevention programs, contact your community nursing station, health centre, band council or local regional office.

British Columbia treatment centres

Find information on how you can access services in British Columbia. Contact the First Nations Health Authority at (604) 693-6500 or the toll-free line at 1-866-913-0033.

Alberta treatment centres

For information on how you can access services, contact the Alberta Regional Referral Coordinator at (780) 495-2345.

Saskatchewan treatment centres

Find information on how to access treatment services and answer questions related to addiction and mental health services. Contact the Saskatchewan Region’s NNADAP Program Manager at (306) 780-8392. You can also contact the main Saskatchewan Regional Office at (306) 780-5449 or (306) 780-5038.

All First Nations and Inuit individuals have access to these centres. Clients entering in–patient treatment are required to complete a medical examination before being admitted. All referrals are to be sent directly to treatment centres. Referrals are reviewed to ensure that each individual meets the program requirements.

Manitoba treatment centres

Ontario treatment centres

For information on treatment services, contact the Ontario Region’s NNADAP Program Manager at (807) 343-5352. You can also contact the main Ontario Regional Office at (613) 668-6411.

Quebec treatment centres

If you want to seek treatment services, contact your local community Health Centre for assistance. You can also contact the treatment centre directly.
